What is a gyrocopter?

A gyrocopter (autogyro) is an aircraft that combines the best characteristics of a helicopter and an airplane. The rotor is not powered by the engine but spins freely in the air, enabling an extremely stable and safe flight. Thanks to the principle of autorotation, a gyrocopter cannot fall even in the event of engine failure — making it one of the safest aircraft in the world.

How safe is a gyrocopter?

Very safe. A gyrocopter flies stably, smoothly and in a controlled manner. In the event of engine failure, the rotor continues to spin freely, enabling a safe and soft landing. This is why gyrocopters are used in flight schools and aerial patrols around the world.

How many people can fly in one gyrocopter?

A gyrocopter has two seats — one for the pilot and one for the passenger. For couples or groups, Horizon Airs Split offers synchronized fleet flights so you can fly side by side.

How high does the gyrocopter fly?

We typically fly between 300 and 600 meters altitude, depending on the route and conditions, providing the perfect view of Dalmatia and its islands.

Who operates the aircraft?

All flights are conducted by certified professional pilots with strict adherence to all safety standards of the Croatian Civil Aviation Agency (CCAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

How can I book a flight?

You can book a flight directly through our website at flyabovesplit.com. After selecting your preferred date and route, you'll receive a confirmation and payment instructions for the deposit.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all payment methods — cash, Mastercard, Visa, Revolut, Aircash, Bitcoin and other popular forms of digital payment.

Can I cancel or change my reservation?

Yes. You can cancel or change your reservation up to 72 hours before the scheduled time, free of charge. The deposit is fully refunded. For cancellations within 72 hours, the deposit is retained.

What if the flight is cancelled due to weather?

If weather conditions are not suitable, the flight is postponed to the first available time that works for you. If you cannot accept the new date, the deposit is fully refunded.

Do I need previous flying experience?

No, no experience is needed whatsoever. The pilot handles the entire flight and will explain everything before takeoff. Your only job is to enjoy the view!

Can I record the flight?

Passengers can film during the flight, but we don't recommend it due to the risk of losing phones. Horizon Airs Split offers professional recording with GoPro Hero and GoPro 360 cameras for 20 EUR per recording, free for flights 90 minutes or longer.

Is there a weight limit?

Yes, for safety reasons the maximum passenger weight is 115 kg (253 lbs).

Bring sunglasses and a light jacket. Helmet, communication system and safety equipment are provided on site.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes, we offer personalized gift vouchers valid for 12 months — ideal for birthdays, anniversaries or corporate gifts.

Do you organize special flights for couples and filming?

Yes, in addition to standard panoramic routes we offer romantic couple flights, photo and video flights, and business promo flights. For couples, we organize synchronized fleet flights.

Who oversees your flights?

All flights are conducted in accordance with the regulations of the Croatian Civil Aviation Agency (CCAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

How are the aircraft maintained?

Our gyrocopters are regularly serviced according to manufacturer instructions (AutoGyro MTO 914, Rotax 914 engine), with regular 25, 100, 200 and 500-hour inspections. All parts are original and replaced according to certified standards.
